Joel did a bike race called Blood, Sweat, and Gears in Boone, NC in late June, so it was an excuse for a road to trip to the beautiful Appalachian mountains! Norm and I tagged along and proved to be an excellent cheering section for Joel as he did his 50-miler in the mountains (believe me, watching was MUCH more fun). We made a great weekend out of it, shopping in darling Blowing Rock and trying cute little restaurants. Not only did Norm do great in the 6+ hour car trip, but he LOVED his first hotel stay and was a very well-behaved boy!
