Cereal Girl

Our big girl is eating cereal! We've been at it a few weeks now and it's been fun to watch her learn how to eat off a spoon. We started with Oatmeal and have since added Rice and Barley to the repertoire. Next up: veggies!

Harper Highlights- 5 months

Here is what Harper has been up to this month:

  • She is all smiles all the time and has started laughing. It's so cute, and she ALWAYS giggles when she sees Norman.
  • She has learned to sit in the "tripod" position, using her hands to prop herself up.
  • Harper loves to wiggle when she's laying on her changing table or on the floor. She straightens her legs out, kicks, and flaps her arms. Busy, busy! (All of this activity makes a huge mess in the bathtub, by the way... water everywhere!)
  • Mommy loves to put Harper in shoes. Harper loves to take her shoes off. :)
  • She still loves her pacificier, which we affectionately call "Binkerton".
  • Harper is learning how fun it is to reach out and grab onto things (Mommy's earrings, the drink in Mommy's hand, Daddy's glasses, etc).
  • She really entertains herself in the Exersaucer. And she's also graduated and can touch her feet to the bottom without the assistance of a phonebook.
  • Harper just started eating cereal right before she turned 5 months and really likes it! She prefers it pretty thick and is quite the drama queen when it's too runny.
  • Speaking of drama queen moments... Harper has developed a "fake cough". We think she must like the sound of it or the feel of a cough in her throat, but it's darn pretty funny.
  • Harper still wears the elusive size 1-2 diapers and 6 month clothes.
  • No doctor's appointment this month, but our best guess for her weight is almost 14 pounds.

And here are some of our favorite pictures of our sweet-pea this month:

Howdy from Texas

Harper and I are in San Antonio visiting Mammy and Pops and having a great time. We've been doing some shopping, going out to lunch, hanging in the pool (and the very HOT sun), and working on our naps! But despite all this fun, we are missing Daddy terribly! :(

Harper is such an awesome little traveler. She was all smiles and giggles on the plane ride down to Texas.

My sister was here with all 3 kids the week before so we got to all overlap for 2 days before they flew home to Missouri. It was SO fun and went by way too fast. We celebrated Pop's birthday and even had a photographer come out to my parents house to take pictures of all 4 kids together. Hopefully we got some cute ones... a tall order with 2 babies, a 3-year-old, and a hot and tired 6-year-old. :)

In the meantime, we snapped this cute snapshot of the cousins. Baby Smith is so much bigger already, and Jackson and Mollie Jane are so much fun to play with. Harper just loves her cousins.... almost as much as we do!
